Called Flying Sauces, the new It was actually a bit surreal if I'm honest. We were there for a relaxed afternoon and hadn't exactly paid a cheap price. So anyway, we change in the changing rooms, which I'll point out were fairly clean but they just looked like they were in need of a good refurbishment.
We were told off to start with because we were wearing shoes in a wet area, then because we were stood too close to someone else's locker. Definitely frowned upon if you're not a member. Seems very clicky, can tell the people who go there most days, they definitely don't like outsiders in "their" space. So we then go to use the jacuzzi - seriously, smaller than a kids paddling pool.
And again, we were literally stared at by the others there who clearly didn't like us being there, or it seemed that way anyway. We thought we'd try the steam room - just your average steam room unfortunately, nothing fancy, very small. The pool, I'll point out isnt even a full sized pool. We'd booked it for 1pm and it was then so we acknowledged we were slightly early. The staff in the cafe area were all lovely, friendly, polite, helpful.
Our "afternoon tea" came out Massive disappointment - didn't even look as you'd expect - or what the photos on the website showed for that matter. One scone each which was OK, probably the best part. We had to return a couple of hours later for the other two of our party to have their treatments. Again, they said they couldn't fault the massage itself but there was still people walking in through the waiting area. Definitely not a spa - this is a fitness centre with a couple of treatment rooms glorified up to be a spa.
I don't normally complain about anything because I don't like causing a fuss but this I felt had to be written to warn others not to waste your money here. I thought with this being a Bannatyne Spa it would be lovely, however, the changing rooms were really crowded with the gym members being in there at the same time.
The Spa waiting room was really dark and I had to move under a light to see what I was writing. The massage itself was lovely and Renata was lovely and made me feel really welcome. I went downstairs afterwards to wait for my friend and I did feel quite relaxed sat in my robe. The choice of classes were not to our taste and swimming was lane swimming and it did put us off; so we decided to get changed and go for coffee instead.
The cafe was busy and there was no staff on duty; we were told that the staff member was on his break? However, when he did come back, he was really lovely and quite apologetic.
The food was lovely and well priced; One thing though, the receptionist requires some customer service training. I'm not sure whether I would go back but I would recommend the facial and scalp massage. I was disappointed to learn of your feedback regarding the facilities; we endeavour to make all of our promotional literature as accurate as possible and we do state that this is a Health Club with a Spa and as such we have members using the facilities throughout the day.
I do apologise that your order was not taken straight away at the cafe bar this is not the standard we strive for. I will look into your comment regarding the receptionist on duty and will address any issues regarding their customer service training. Once again I appreciate the feedback and I am very glad you enjoyed your treatments. We are having a major refurbishment of the club potentially starting around the end of June which will include a new steam, sauna and the addition of a relaxation room along with an upgrade of our spa treatment rooms.
The work should be completed before the end of the year. Had a lovely day with my daughter. We both had treatments in the spa , feel revived. It is wonderful to hear that you had a relaxing and enjoyable day with us. I have passed on your compliments to the team and they were delighted.

We look forward to welcoming you back to Bannatyne Spa in the near future. Great massage this afternoon, thank you. Very thorough and professional and hit all the right spots.
I've passed your compliments on to the staff and they were delighted. We look forward to welcoming you back in the near future. Kind regards Debbie Williams. I visited the place because a friend gave me a gift voucher for my birthday. Not sure if I would have ended up there in other circumstances. The small room was clean and cosy.
The music nice. The treatment was certainly professional and enjoyable but something about the general atmosphere of the place didn't win me. In my biography, I explain the incident; it was in part a reaction to this officer's abuse of his authority, in part a dare by his shipmates and in part a way of getting out of the Navy, with which I had become disillusioned.
Afterwards, I had to serve nine months in the tough Colchester military detention centre before being discharged aged I have since branched into Health Clubs, with the popular Bannatyne's Health Clubs chain, and also bars, hotels and property. I was honoured with the Order of the British Empire for my contribution to charity and I support many good causes, especially for children.
